American rapper Ludacris sampled "Satisfaction" in his song "Ultimate Satisfaction" for his 2006 album Release Therapy. Cuban-American DJ Laz used the song's instrumental in his song "Move Shake Drop". American rapper Flo Rida's "Touch Me" from his 2009 album R.O.O.T.S. also interpolates parts of "Satisfaction".

“Satisfaction” was the Rolling Stones' first number one American hit. To many, it is the quintessential rock song with its mix of fractured grammar (“can't get no”), its sense of rebellion and disillusionment, its anti-commercialism stance and, of course, its driving guitar riff.

The Rolling Stones first recorded the track on 10 May 1965 at Chess Studios in Chicago, Illinois, which included Brian Jones on harmonica. The Stones lip-synched to a dub of this version the first time they debuted the song on the American music variety television programme Shindig!

Songfacts will tell you: “Mick Jagger wrote all the lyrics except the line "Can't get no satisfaction." The lyrics deal with what Jagger saw as the two sides of America, the real and phony. He sang about a man looking for authenticity but not being able to find it.
